“The universe is not made of atoms, it is made of stories.”

~Muriel Rukeyser

Human brains are wired for storytelling. Stories are how we imagine possibilities, encode our values, and teach lessons to the next generation. Stories impart facts, opinions, judgements, and emotions. Stories have a unique power to both inform and persuade.

In this lively session, Nate Gasser and Briana Morgan will explore the classic elements of a good story and how we can use these elements to make our data more approachable, understandable, relatable, and shareable.

Next they’ll dive into some examples ranging from global antibiotic resistance to women in American politics, exposing both organizational and technical challenges and how they were addressed.

Finally they'll get super-practical by sharing some free tools and easy-to-use techniques for unleashing the stories hiding in your data and sharing them with your audience.
