The Decline of Scientology by Jim Lippard

Skeptics -

I'm excited to announce yet another fun and informative event provided by Phoenix Skeptics in the Pub and the Phoenix Area Skeptics Society!

Many of you may have heard that the Church of Scientology recently opened an "office" in Phoenix. This can only mean that their influence is growing, right? Our own Jim Lippard makes a compelling case that the opposite may be true in a talk titled "The Decline and (Probable) Fall of the Church of Scientology". In this talk Jim will discuss Scientology's history and the evidence he sees of its decline. It is sure to be eye-opening, no matter how much you know about the mysterious world of thetans and e-meters.

Jim Lippard is a skeptical activist (among many other things) that has been involved in the movement since 1985. He has been published in Skeptic Magazine multiple times, including a recent article upon which this talk is based. Jim blogs at http://lippard.blogspot.com/ and you can follow him on Twitter @lippard. Jim knows his stuff--follow him!

I hope you can join us for the fun!

Will anyone bring their e-meter for us to try out. I got a demo at a mall in Austin a few years back and marveled at its solid construction and quality workmanship.
