Meet fellow shutterbugs near you! Come to a Photography Meetup to talk about the latest gear, swap tips and techniques, share your images and stories -- and have fun doing it! Click on the "Files" tab and download the "New Members Survival Guide" for more details. Each meeting consists of numerous segments reviewed in the Agenda, which like all the images are viewed on a ultra-bright large screen. We do a round-robin where new members and first time attendees introduce themselves and tell us what they hope to get from and give to the group. Announcements come next, which include local photo op's, status of upcoming outings and gathering, contests, member’s photo's winning awards or published, the Workshop topic of the month (run after the main meeting). Next we view and vote on the images submitted for the Challenge of the month, a topic chosen by last month's winners. Members may enter one image in the two divisions, Light or Heavy, according to the extent of post-processing applied to the image (no or light, or heavy). Next we Critique images submitted by members. Portfolios are shown, representing up to 10 of members’ best images. One or two brief seminars are next presented by a member, on a wide range of important and interesting topics. Lastly, we hold camera mentoring where members who need help understanding their camera functions get one-on-one help. Concurrent with the mentoring is “Schmoozing” where there is lots of camera talk, and getting to know other members. When we wrap up, some members participate in SLAW: Social, Lunch, and Workshop. They lunch together, socialize and participate in a Workshop given by Roger D. Roger will go into depth on a pre-anounced topic. Members can upload up to 100 images to a personal Photo Album, and make use of the Message Board. BEST BUY Oro Valley gives members a significant discount. So if you have been putting off joining us, come on down and meet a great bunch of people who love photography, and join us!
The Challenge Theme for November 14 is "Youth/Children", chosen by the two winners of the October "People" Challenge, Susan J and Jamara K. All may submit one image for each of the two divisions (or light/none or heavy use of post processing). Susan B will show a portfolio and some images for critique. Steve Dell will give a seminar on HDR (High Dynamic Range). Read more
