Why are Presidential Debates so Lame?

These debates are so dissappointing. First, they don't let people outside of the bought-and-paid-for establishment participate. So independent candidates have no chance of getting heard or elected in this country. Then they never seem to ask the obvious questions most of us would like to see.

For example: I would have liked to see Governor Romney ask President Obama, "If you are so afraid of going back to the Bush/Cheney policies that got us into trouble in the first place, why did you appoint so many Bush administration leftovers to key positions in your cabinet?"

And I really wish President Obama would have asked Governor Romney, "Are you still a conscientious objector? If your personal and religious beliefs will not allow you to serve in the military how can you possibly be the Commander in Chief?"

Tasers, Cattle Prods and Whoppie cushions would have helped. Maybe next time.
