SFPUG November: Aggregation Operation

Details

PostgreSQL 9.4 and 9.5 will contain lots of new SQL goodness to let you do number-crunching inside PostgreSQL instead of outside it. This meetup will be a twofer, with:

Josh Berkus demonstrates 9.4's features: WITHIN GROUP, ORDINALITY and multi-column UNNEST as ways to analyze your database logs and other data. For free, he'll also explain the difference between percentile_disc and percentile_cont!

David Fetter explains the work on 9.5's GROUPING SETS: why you want them, what they're for, and how they're being developed.

IMPORTANT: the meetup is on the 5th Floor this time. The event happening on the 4th floor is a different group!

Meetup Hosting and food generously sponsored by Neustar, your source for Postgres-based cutting-edge web analytics.
