Pat Bagley -- "A Survival Guide to Salt Lake"

Details

Main Auditorium, Salt Lake Library

Pat Bagley is a journalist for The Salt Lake Tribune (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Salt_Lake_Tribune), and an author. He served an LDS mission in Bolivia and received a degree from BYU, in political science. Pat is a brother of Will Bagley, a historian of Mormonism. After statements by Elder Oaks, Bagley “retired” from the LDS church. He considered his experience in the church a “good one”, as quoted from KCPW.

Pat's book, “A Utah Survival Guide”, pokes fun at Utah culture, but not in a mean-spirited way. The book indicates his love for Utah and its natives. Some other books include “Where Have All the Nephites Gone”, published by Deseret Book, and “101 Ways to Survive Four More Years of George W Bush”.

Pat still produces a daily cartoon for the Tribune, and his cartoons have appeared in The LA Times, Washington Post, Guardian, Newsweek, and Wall Street Journal. His jokes about Jell-O in Utah led Jell-O to become the state dessert.

If you can, please consider donating to Postmos for this event. The library has started charging "groups like ours" for use of the auditorium, with the speaker fee, means this may be the last of our lectures for a while. http://www.postmos.org/donate.html
