How long were you in the church?

I was a 6th generations Mormon and was active in the church until about four years ago. It took me a long time approximately three decades of adulthood, when I should have been able to reason better, to start to use my critical thinking skills regarding the church. It was a tough transition, but now I feel better and more free than ever. Now it's time to work on my social life.

What caused you to question the church?

Many things caused me to question the church; the misogyny and polygamy, unrealistic claims and stories in the B of M, and let's not forget the bigotry against homosexuals. The history of how the Book of Abraham came about and the real meaning of the papyrus was the last straw.

I'm a father of three adult children and a grandpa. I'm separated from my wife after over 29 years. We were married in the temple in 1985. We held many church positions and now our social circle has shrunk a lot since we left.
