Representative Harvey Santana (D-Detroit) speaks to citizen lobbyists
at the capital about the proposed Animal Abuse Registry.

Meetup Members,

Our Humane Lobby Day was as successful as usual. We had a great turn out in Lansing and the opportunity to see SB 285/286 pass through it’s first committee hearing! For those of you who could not attend, I wanted to make sure you are all aware of the pending legislation we have lined up. Yes, the Pet Lemon Law will be back!

Below is a list of bills you need to ask your representatives and senators to support. Go to our updated Legislation webpage to find your legislator and ways to contact them. It really does work. Don’t ever think someone else is doing it or can do it better.

SB 117/118 “Puppy Protection Act”
This bill would regulate large-scale breeders, enact standards of care and limit the number of breeding dogs. Reintroduced from last year when bill did not get out of Senate Agriculture Committee. Senator Hune (R-Pinckney) is the Chairman of this Committee.
Supported by: Michigan Humane Society, Michigan Association of Animal Control Officers, Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Michigan Pet Fund Alliance.

Ask your legislator to vote YES on this bill!
