PyHou - Tabular data with Pandas and IPython Notebook. Houston Python Meetup!

Hello Pythonistas!

This month's topic highlights (and recycles!) one of the talks from PyTexas 2012. Walker Hale will present:

"Manipulating Tabular Data Using Pandas and IPython Notebook"

Abstract: "A common pain point for many people is the difficulty in doing certain standard operations on tabular data: joining, filtering, and aggregating. Most use Excel to perform these operations, usually with far more difficulty than is strictly necessary. This talk will demonstrate how the combination of the Pandas library and the IPython Notebook interface can provide a more efficient and pleasant environment for performing such tasks."

Lightning Talks anyone? We ask anyone who is willing to give a lightning talk (5 minutes or less) prior to the main presentation to sign up by adding a comment to the meetup page for this event. Your comment should have your name and the subject of your talk. Beginner talks are always welcome! Your ideas and observations will be more valuable to others than you realize!

Our meetup is located at the Stag's Head Pub, near Richmond and Shepherd. Please enjoy their menu and drink offerings, so they continue to enjoy hosting us! Lastly, please RSVP (even if you're a "Maybe"!) to assist us with capacity planning!

Hey Walker, ould you include your .ipynb file in this meetup. Not asking for the data, just want to import to my notebook and see your method calls.

    Great presentation!

Good demonstration of IPython notebook. Walker, Thanks for figuring out my IPython problem. I wonder why firefox browser does not work. I'll stick to chrome.

Did anyone go to PyTexas last weekend? If so, I'm sure we'd all like to hear a Lightning Talk recap. I wasn't able to make it. :-(

This is where you sign up for lightning talks for this session.
