Most of the example code in my presentation was taken from the official Django tutorial here, if you want more detail:

    Hello,
there is a change in the venue: we will meet in the "Marie Curie" room, instead of the "Charles Darwin". The Marie Curie is close to the previous room, and we will put some signs to help you find it.

    March 20, 2013

  • Areski B.

I just had someone asking this question, the room is "Charles Darwin" on the ground floor of the PRBB, you can ask at the reception for direction if this is the first time you go to the PRBB

Que bien! Muchas de las charlas van a ser introductiva, seguro lo encontraras muy interesante.

uau!! nearly explaining what is plone in 15 min is quite hard ! :) I really think that Zope-Plone-completeCMS vs python framework is not the same amount of time.

    March 6, 2013

    • Areski B.

I can imagine this being pretty rough, this should a brief introduction! Then maybe next meetup we can do a longer session on the subject... if there is ppl interested!

    Hi Everyone,
Can all the speakers add their email to the document ?
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhSaVHf5sYaNdHNVRDIyaW9MOE0xYUpEM09SaWV5NGc#gid=0

We are trying to close the event and freeze a date.

    Thanks!

I'm a php dev willing to discover a new world :),
so for me any introductory talks would be more than appreciated! Django, Flask etc...

    Thanks!

Hi, i have a location in barcelona center (plaza universidad). we work with python for architectural and interface projects.
I would like to offer free my space for this meetup.

    2 · February 20, 2013

    • Areski B.

Hi Rodrigo, That s great! How many peoples can you accomodate ?

      February 21, 2013

  • Areski B.

Once we get a list of talks and speakers, I'm sure finding a date and place will come easily!

    I compiled the info here : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhSaVHf5sYaNdHNVRDIyaW9MOE0xYUpEM09SaWV5NGc#gid=0
If you can speak about something and are not on the list, please add your name / talks in :)

I don't think it s a good idea one person do more than 1 talk but that s my personal view.

Once we get a list of speakers / talks we can start a Doodle to vote.

    What do you think ?

    3 · February 18, 2013

  • Ramon Navarro B.

We need a date and location, any chance to do it on Barcelona ? I would do in my City but I can imagine that none are going to come to Manresa :)

I would like to see the three main web frameworks :

    * Plone
    * Pyramid
    * Django

A talk about each one with its weekness and strenghts!

    February 18, 2013

  • Marc G.

I haven't used Django that much lately. I would love to hear from flask.

And if people is interested, I wouldn't mind to deliver a lightning talk (5 to 10 minutes) about offline websites (appcache and filesystem api). It's not Python stuff at all, but can be interesting for web developers.

If everybody wants I can do a small talk about nodejs

      1 · February 14, 2013

    • Areski B.

it would be nice to hear opinion of others on this, as this is a python meetup it might be strange to talk about nodejs, there is also a JS meetup.

Hi, I've been doing Django for >4 years, I could give a talk about "best practices", common 3rd-party apps, deploying infrastructure, or any other topic.

    3 · February 15, 2013

    • Areski B.

      best practices will be great

    Any news on a date?

I have been using Django for two years at work, so know it reasonably well.
Assuming the date is good (and time - after 7 is easier than 6 for me)

I could do a talk on one of the following :

    REST with Tasypie in Django
    Or an Introduction to Django.
Or Class based generic views (though I only really know list views well, so my least favored topic).
Or Django Admin configuration / tricks. Let me know if anyone is interested in these.

    1 · February 13, 2013

    • Toni M.

REST with Tasypie, please, please, please....

      February 13, 2013

  • Giovanni D.

    Hello,
we need two things to organize this meetup:

    - at least another talk proposal. Any volunteer?

    - a proposal for the date. Does anybody have any preference? I can book the room here at the PRBB, but only between March 14th and March 28th

    February 13, 2013

  • Juan Ramón G.

I will love to talk about this, I used django this past years for a few projects and quite like it, while I got a bit tired of it's limitations, now I'm using Flask a bit more.

    February 9, 2013

  • Loris M.

Great idea! I don't know Django and an introduction would be terrific!

    1 · February 8, 2013

  • Areski B.

    Hi,
That s a great idea, let's write some presentation ideas for talks then.
I don' t know Plone, but well enough Django and Flask.

I just going to write few ideas, maybe this is going to inspire few of us :

    - Django Introduction (if there is ppl willing to learn django that will certainly be nice)
    - Django 1.5 - What s coming ?
    - Django Realtime with Socketio
    - Django & MongoDB
    - Distribute your task with Celery
    - Give me APIs : Tastypie
    - TDD with Django (anyone is up for this ?)
    - Flask
    - REST in Flask
    - Pyramid (personally I would love to hear this, anyone ?)
    - Django : Class-based views
    - Deploy Django with Nginx, Gunicorn and Supervisor (or perhaps Circus)
