Python Atlanta November Meetup
Hosted by PyAtl: Atlanta Python Programmers
Details
Presentation #1:
Getting Involved with PyCon! (as a local volunteer)
The Chair of PyCon 2010 himself, Van Lindberg, will be attending our PyAtl meeting during a two-day visit to Atlanta to survey the conference site! He will discuss:
The general state of PyCon preparations at this point.
What to expect from a local organizer perspective — how helping to organize is different than just dropping by PyCon to visit.
What locals can do better than anyone else.
The theme for PyCon and how that is affecting everything we do.
Presentation #2:
A Quick Guide to Python Data Structures
If you have read the Python Tutorial, you know about tuples, lists, and dictionaries. But several very useful and more specialized data structures also are supported out-of-the-box in Python. In this talk by Brandon Rhodes, you will learn about them, what they're good for, and when to use them in your own programs.
Location, and dinner before
After an optional 6pm dinner at Figo Pasta at the corner of Howell Mill Road and Huff Road, we will meet as usual in the spacious and comfortable auditorium of the GTRI Food Processing Building at 7:30pm for our monthly meeting. Expect discussion, problem solving, and talks that introduce aspects of Python both basic (for newcomers) and arcane (to keep the experts awake).
