JavaFX 2: Dan Zwolenski

The talk today will cover an introduction to JavaFX by Daniel Zwolenski (Zonski for short). He'll be backed up by Jonathan Giles, a developer at Oracle in the JavaFX team. Given how little time there is to prepare, this talk will be largely an introduction to what JavaFX 2.0 currently offers at a high-level, as well as walk through Daniel's JFX Flow project, before going in to Q&A to help answer all of your questions.

Hey Steve, FEST looks very promising - the right idea anyway. It doesn't look like the JFX support has been released yet (not for 2.0 anyway) as far as I can see, but I'll definitely keep an eye on it. Thanks for the link.

@Steve: I emailed you earlier this month suggesting Daniel (and I) give a talk on JavaFX. Not sure if you ever saw that email, but I'm sure something could be winged today if you wanted. If not, that is fine.

I'm new to this so not sure how it works. If there's interest I can talk on JavaFX 2.0 (scripting is gone!). I've been heavily involved with the beta and community (I'm top forum 'helper'). Jonathan Giles (JFX developer) actually put me onto you guys saying you might be interested? Not much time to prepare, so either a short intro exploring major features (layouts, animations, styling, etc) or a full hour if we play with code. Let me know if you're interested, I'm easy. Dan (
