QS Show&Tell #29 (Skydeck in Berkeley)

Please join us on March 22nd for an exciting evening, starting with an interactive mini-expo for QS tools, plus some of our usual inspiring show&tells.

We'll be in Berkeley this time, hosted by our friends at SkyDeck. Be sure to RSVP early to grab your spot! Come to meet new people, check out new hands-on gadgets and visualization tools (using your own data!), enjoy healthy food, and learn from personal stories.

Think: "your own questions about your own data."

If you are a maker of a gadget or visualization tool and would like to collaborate with us in designing an interactive demo of your tool, let us know when you RSVP! The idea is to let people ask questions of their own data and learn something new about themselves.

And if you're not a toolmaker but have data of your own that you want to play with, bring it along on a flash drive! It can be time-series data, Fitbit or Zeo data, a spreadsheet, whatever you have. We will try to put together ways for you to interact with it and gain new insight.

7:30 pm – 9 pm IGNITE SHOW&TELLS

If you'd like to talk about your personal self-tracking story, please let us know in your RSVP so we can discuss your topic. In your talk, you should answer the three prime questions: What did you do? How did you do it? What did you learn?

If you've never been to a meetup before, you can get a sense of what the talks are like from watching videos of previous QS talks.

Don't know what Ignite means? Click here for more info and here for tips on how to deliver a fantastic quick-fire presentation.

9 - 10 pm SOCIAL TIME

Talk to the speakers, chat with new and old friends, ask other people what they're tracking, and generally hang out and have a great time.

A fantastic space is generously being provided by our friends at Skydeck in Berkeley! Thanks too to IntelAutodesk23andMe, and Scanadu, our annual sponsors, for supporting the Quantified Self movement across the country and around the world. Four cheers to them for making our gathering possible!

We use the sponsor money and meetup donations to pay for professional video recording, incidental venue costs, and awesome, healthy refreshments, as well as to fund projects that help the larger QS community. If you or your company are interested in sponsoring Quantified Self, or hosting a future meetup at your office, please let us know.

Thank you and see you there!

My first QS meeting! I really had no idea what to expect, but was a lot of fun and quite eye opening. Some great ideas and perspectives were presented. (And I'm already a "The Eatery" addict!). Thanks everyone.

Sorry to the organizers for missing out this evening; I ended up with a family obligation. I was going to demo the newly launched which I've previewed to some of you over the past year. Next time!

Long shot: Is anyone driving back to South Bay (specifically, via Belmont) after the meetup? If yes, I'd love a ride. I can share gas money, if required. Thanks!

Hi Rakesh. I may be able to give you a ride -- if you're near 101. - Rajiv

I'll bring the Group Works cards (a physical deck and iPad/iPhone app) and can demo/discuss how I use it for self-reflection & collective capacity assessment in groups, both in meetings and cohousing/coworking groups. Would be happy to demo/play.

my hunch is that the capacity is 150, therefore 74 available spots while 76 have already committed to coming...

If there are 76 attending and 74 spots, can we still register and pay? Not sure about this math...

I'm a data scientist at FICO. We turn data into insights, primarily for financial services companies. I'm interested if similar techniques can apply to QS data.
