Details

Please join us on August 24th for another night of self-tracking presentations, sharing lessons learned, and showing tools.

IGNITE PLUS

We're heading back to San Francisco this time, at California College of the Arts. Directions can be found here (SF campus): http://www.cca.edu/about/directions and you will need to check in at the front desk.

At our last meetup, we experimented with using the Ignite format for talks, and as good QS'ers, we learned from the experience! This time we will be adding in a question period after each Ignite talk, and introducing Rajiv Mehta as our newest meetup organizer.

Don't know what Ignite means? Click here for more info (http://ignite.oreilly.com/) and here for tips (http://www.speakerconfessions.com/2009/06/how-to-give-a-great-ignite-talk/) on how to deliver a fantastic quick-fire presentation.

6 -7:30 pm SOCIAL HOUR AND WORKSHOP

Think: "science fair" for adults.

If you have a self-tracking project, gadget, app, or idea you'd like to share or demo, but you don't want to get up and talk about it, the workshop hour is perfect for you.

You don't need to have a prepared talk, or permission to show something. Just come and bring what you have. We will have tables and power strips where you can plug in a laptop if you like, but paper is good too.

Just to be clear, we save the talks for personal accounts of self-tracking and self-experimentation, rather than sales/investor pitches. But of course we are also interested in tools! If you are making something useful for self-trackers – software, hardware, web services, or data standards – please demo it in this workshop portion of the Show&Tell.

7:30 pm – 9 pm QS SHOW&TELL TALKS

If you'd like to talk about your project, please let us know in advance so we can discuss your topic and how much time you'll need.

QS SPONSORS: OUR THANKS TO CCA

A fantastic space is generously being provided by California College of the Arts (http://www.cca.edu/). Thanks too to Basis (http://www.mybasis.com/), HealthTap (http://healthtap.com/) and CureTogether (http://curetogether.com/), our annual sponsors, for supporting the Quantified Self movement expansion across the country and around the world.

Three cheers to them for making our gathering possible!

QS SPONSORSHIP - WHAT IT IS

We use the sponsor money to pay for professional video recording and healthy refreshments, as well as to fund projects that help the larger QS community. If you or your company are interested in sponsoring Quantified Self, please let us know.

We are also asking for an optional $5 donation to help cover the out-of-pocket costs of running the meetups. If you'd like to donate more than $5, please do!

Thank you and see you there!
