QS Show&Tell #24 (Google in Mountain View)

Please join us on March 28th for another night of self-tracking presentations, sharing lessons learned, and showing tools.

We'll be at Google this time, so be sure to RSVP early to grab your spot. Talks will be in the Ignite Plus format (Ignite talks + Q&A period). Rajiv Mehta will be hosting. Lots of fun will be had. :)

Anyone else who would like to volunteer, please write to me (Alex) at [masked]. It's a great way to meet people!

6 -7 pm SOCIAL HOUR AND WORKSHOP

Think: "science fair" for adults.

If you have a self-tracking project, gadget, app, or idea you'd like to share or demo, but you don't want to get up and talk about it, the workshop hour is perfect for you.

You don't need to have a prepared talk, or permission to show something. Just come and bring what you have. Just to be clear, we save the talks for personal accounts of self-tracking and self-experimentation, rather than sales/investor pitches. But of course we are also interested in tools! If you are making something useful for self-trackers – software, hardware, web services, or data standards – please demo it in this workshop portion of the Show&Tell.

We will also be encouraging everyone to talk to new people they've never talked to before!

7 pm – 8:30 pm QS SHOW&TELL TALKS

If you'd like to talk about your personal self-tracking story, please let us know in your RSVP so we can discuss your topic and how much time you'll need. In your talk, you should answer the three prime questions: What did you do? How did you do it? What did you learn?

Don't know what Ignite means? Click here for more info and here for tips on how to deliver a fantastic quick-fire presentation.

8:30 - 10 pm MORE SOCIAL TIME

Talk to the speakers, chat with new and old friends, ask other people what they're tracking, and generally hang out and have a great time.

This meetup was great. I enjoyed the time before the talks began where folks could meet, mingle, and chat over munchies. Then the five talks were each surprising and delightful. Finally, all the speakers hung around afterwards to talk. A terrific event.

Great to see so many first-timers there last night!

My favorite moment of the evening was when Kevin Kelly asked the guy who found treadmill walking improved his cognitive function, "Have you tried butter?"

Fantastic. Excellent speakers. Great vibe. Wow.

Completely over-crowded, but that doesn't matter. Actually made the whole thing seem even better.

I enjoyed meeting #24 quite a bit. I find it fascinating that so many self-quantifiers are interested in bicycling and veganism, like myself. All of the speakers were incredible, and I learned from each one. I was extremely impressed and happy to hear the woman talk about veganism, and how she was able to see the differences between her and her twin.

SRO. All good talks, several absolutely outstanding. Good networking before and after. Apropos mention of the Personalized Life Extension Conference this coming weekend, an event which embodies the QS core concept with an added focus of long-term sustainability. The downside was having a hoarse voice when I woke up. Thanks, folks! Good job all around.

How soon will a similar Meetup be slated? You could do this once a month easily. I cannot attend were it not a critical time. Really want to attend and present. I have eye-candy!
