QS Show&Tell #28 (Microsoft in SF)

Details
Please join us on December 5th for a special experiment: an interactive mini-expo for QS tools, plus some of our usual inspiring show&tells.
We'll be in San Francisco this time, hosted by our friends at Microsoft. Be sure to RSVP early to grab your spot! Gary Wolf will be hosting. Come to meet new people, check out new hands-on gadgets and visualization tools (using your own data!), enjoy healthy food, and learn from personal stories.
Anyone who would like to volunteer, please write to me at alex@quantifiedself.com. It's a lot of fun. :)
6 -7:30 pm MINI-EXPO FOR QS TOOLS
Think: "your own questions about your own data."
If you are a maker of a gadget or visualization tool and would like to collaborate with us in designing an interactive demo of your tool, let us know when you RSVP! The idea is to let people ask questions of their own data and learn something new about themselves.
And if you're not a toolmaker but have data of your own that you want to play with, bring it along on a flash drive! It can be time-series data, Fitbit or Zeo data, a spreadsheet, whatever you have. We will try to put together ways for you to interact with it and gain new insight.
7:30 pm – 9 pm IGNITE SHOW&TELLS
If you'd like to talk about your personal self-tracking story, please let us know in your RSVP so we can discuss your topic. In your talk, you should answer the three prime questions: What did you do? How did you do it? What did you learn?
If you've never been to a meetup before, you can get a sense of what the talks are like from watching videos of previous QS talks (http://vimeo.com/groups/quantifiedself/videos).
Don't know what Ignite means? Click here for more info (http://ignite.oreilly.com/) and here for tips (http://www.speakerconfessions.com/2009/06/how-to-give-a-great-ignite-talk/) on how to deliver a fantastic quick-fire presentation.
9 - 10 pm SOCIAL TIME
Talk to the speakers, chat with new and old friends, ask other people what they're tracking, and generally hang out and have a great time.
QS SPONSORS: OUR THANKS TO Microsoft!
A fantastic space is generously being provided by our friends at Microsoft in SF! Thanks too to Intel (http://intel.com/), Autodesk (http://autodesk.com/), 23andMe (http://23andme.com), and Scanadu (http://www.scanadu.com/), our annual sponsors, for supporting the Quantified Self movement across the country and around the world. Four cheers to them for making our gathering possible!
QS SPONSORSHIP AND MEETUP COSTS
We use the sponsor money and meetup donations to pay for professional video recording, incidental venue costs, and awesome, healthy refreshments, as well as to fund projects that help the larger QS community. If you or your company are interested in sponsoring Quantified Self, please let us know (labs@quantifiedself.com).
Thank you and see you there!
