We’ve been deeply moved by all the volunteers who have come together to help with Sandy Relief efforts in the past month. We are dedicating Queens Tech Meetup 5 to explore how technology has played a role in NYC’s recovery. Come and learn how to give back for the Holidays.

Following the demo portion, QTM5 will lead into a Holiday Party and.complimentary refreshments will be provided.

Our lineup:

Rachel Haot: NYC’s Chief Digital Officer, Rachel is leading the strategy to make NYC the world’s leading digital city. She previously founded GroundReport & Upward Strategy.

StartUP New York // Reshma Saujani: Reshma Saujani is the founder of Girls Who Code and the former Deputy Public Advocate of New York City. Reshma is organizing StartUp New York and working with companies such as Foursquare, Uber, and Pencils for Promise to coordinate Sandy disaster-relief efforts.

Rebuilding Queens: Rebuilding Queens is a project coordinated by C4Q and built purely by volunteers for the Queensborough President’s Office to act as a web-based centralized resource for Sandy Relief.

NYTech Responds // Jessica Lawrence: Jessica is the Managing Director of NY Tech Meetup and the lead organizer of NYTechResponds, a city-wide effort to bring together the tech community to contribute their skills towards Sandy Relief.

Q11: Q11 is a SMS-based volunteer coordination platform. Everything from registration and check-in to communicating to a real-time list of volunteers is done by texting into the system. Q11 has won both AngelHack (Sandy Category) and the NYTechResponds Sandy Hackathon
