Bean Around the World
Try something new and potentially tons of fun! Join us for a free beginner salsa class + dancing at Dancey Ballroom and Studio. We'll meet up for coffee at Bean Around the World at 175 W. Hastings at 3 pm to chat and mingle first and then head over to the studio as a group and all take the Intro Salsa class together. After the class they leave the floor open for dancing and practice, so we'll hang around for more socializing, dancing, and general fun and amusement!
Q: Do I already have to know how to dance salsa or know how to dance at all?
A: Heck no! You can start learning on that day. There is a beginner class at 4 pm where you'll be taught the basics of salsa. Most of the people who show up for that class will have never danced salsa before. You'll be in good company, and there's nothing to lose especially since this event is FREE on the first Sunday of the month.
Q: What's the atmosphere like?
A: Casual and non-intimidating. And although this is not specifically a gay salsa event, the instructor is gay friendly, and Dancey ballroom's policy on their classes/events is as follows: "Typically a lead is usually male and a follow is usually female, but we also welcome same sex couples."
Q: What's the dress code? A: What dress code? ;) Seriously, this is a casual Sunday afternoon thing, so short of showing up in your PJs please feel free to wear whatever you want. Anything from sneakers to high heels are welcome. We suggest wearing footwear that you can actually move around in.
Q: What and where exactly is Dancey Ballroom and Studio?
A: 505 Hamilton Street, Vancouver. They are known for mainly holding salsa and related classes and events. It's "a stunning dance studio in a Romanesque Revival style heritage building of distinction located on the corner of Hamilton and West Pender."
If anyone has any questions or comments, just drop me (Karen) a message. See you there! :)
