Announcing a new Meetup for Radical Visions Cinema Club!

What: Yvonne Rainer's "Journeys from Berlin/1971" (with Director in Person)

When: November 21,[masked]:15 PM

SF Art Institute
800 Chestnut St
San Francisco, CA 94133

Join us tomorrow, Saturday, November 21, for an evening of film and conversation with the radical filmmaker, choreographer, and feminist theorist Yvonne Rainer. The director herself will be present at this screening of her film Journeys from Berlin/1971 (1980).

"Conveying with wit and inventiveness the personal implications of sociopolitical issues, the films of Yvonne Rainer interweave narrative and non-narrative elements, blur the line between fact and fiction, deconstruct cinematic conventions, and expand upon the immediacy, corporeality, and emotional complexity of her dance and performance work. Journeys from Berlin/1971 is a groundbreaking exploration, both personal and political, of psychiatry, feminism, terrorism, and power. Annette Michelson's psychoanalytic sessions provide the framework for theoretical and visual deconstructions -- and a new filmic choreography."

Saturday's program is part of a three-day (November 20-22) series of lectures and films presented by the San Francisco Art Institute in collaboration with San Francisco Cinemateque.

More info:

7:15 Meet at the San Francisco Art Institute (800 Chestnut St. at Jones) theater, where we will purchase tickets and take our seats. The program starts at 7:30.
