Lifelong hiker. I try to get out every week or two, sometimes informally, and sometimes leading AMC trips. Any place is a favorite if there's a challenging and beautiful mountain and at least some level of food/lodging/culture in the area as well.
While I'll likely have a fantastic time on any hike or backpack that involves a great mountain, my favorite challenges are (1) big day trips; and/or (2) aggressive bushwhacks. All seasons.
#1: Share my passion for the mountains with others. #2: "List work" includes the winter 67/NH100/NE100, and the Grid. I have also been known to forsake the lists simply to enjoy a great day in good company.
Technically: a 5.4 ascent/descent of Long's Peak, a Colorado 14er. Physically: a 38.5-mile, 12-peak, 11,700' cumulative elevation gain, single-day Pemi Loop.
Avid 4-season mountain mega-hiker, bushwhacker, skier. Frequent AMC trip leader in all 4 seasons.
I've met some great people, and found a number of trips that have the high degree of intensity that I like. It's also great that the trip leadership seems pretty uniformly capable and responsible.
