What is your hiking experience? (e.g. how long have you been hiking, how often do you get out , where are some of your favorite places, etc.)

Experienced hiker, from day-long death marches to multi-week backpacking trips. Favorites include San Gabriel Mts., CA, Sierra Nevada, CA, Glacier NP, MT and the Indian Himalaya.

What type of hikes do you like best? (e.g. day hikes, overnight backpacks, hikes that may involve off-trail "bushwhacking", etc.)

Big peaks, multi-day peak-bagging, ridge traverses.

What are your hiking goals? (e.g. just like hiking, enjoy being outdoors, looking to finish one of the "lists", etc.)

Looking to get some experience with winter hiking and mountaineering...crampon and ice axe type of stuff and basically to go up until i can't go up anymore. A presidential range traverse would be a good goal. Also, I'd like to work on backcountry navigation and winter camping.

What is the most strenuous/difficult hike that you have done? What made it so tough?

Cactus to Clouds, Mt. San Jacinto. 11,000 ft elevation gain in one day. Also the John Muir Trail, due to the length of the trip and number of peak-bagging side trips. Most notable were Mount Lyell via the Lyell Glacier and Mount Mendel from Evolution Lake, which included a small stretch of the Evolution Traverse.

Do you have any outdoor leadership experience? Would you be interested in organizing and leading your own events with the Random Hikers??

Mostly a solo hiker, so I'm comfortable in the mountains on my own, but haven't led any group hikes.

Introduction

afflicted with "mountain fever." just relocated from california and looking to explore the white mountains, esp. in winter!
