Hello all Raw Fooders and Health Enthusiasts,
It's Dr. SAM bringing you an update on the Raw Food Atlanta Meetup group. Terri Tattan, (our previous organizer) has decided to step down from this position, and she has asked me to take over as Organizer and I have agreed. A very big thank you to Terri for all of her hard work as well as her dedication and service to this group! I have also asked Jenya Hampton (the original organizer of this group) and Shannon Kilbourn to join me.
As your new organizers, we would love your feedback about this group as well.
Jenya, Shannon and I were discussing how we envisioned this group to run in the future. We all agree that we would like this group to be about more than just raw foods. In other words, the meetups would encompass overall health and wellness as well. Why? Because, eating raw food is only one aspect of good health. There IS SO MUCH more. Besides, let' face it; just another recipe, or another speaker on just raw foods can become old and boring quickly. Don't get me wrong, we will still be eating raw food meals and providing the group with support on the raw food path, but this group will have more to offer it's participants as well.
Therefore, 'Raw Food Atlanta' will now be known as 'Raw Food and Beyond Atlanta,' so that the name reflects our mission and vision. That it goes beyond just raw foods.
There will not be a Meetup in August, but Raw at the River is having a FANTASTIC meetup on August 27th at 6:30 pm with guest speaker Tim VanOrden, an elite athlete fueled by the raw vegan diet. Tim is an amazing speaker with an enormous amount of knowledge on health and nutriotion. Truly a must see! Space is limited, so I suggest you RSVP quickly! You can find out more about the meetup at http://www.meetup.com/Raw-at-The-River/members/4773130/.
I will be traveling to the Woodstock Fruit Festival (http://woodstockfruitfestival.com) this month for what
I believe is going to be the best raw food event of this year. I would recommend attending if you have the time and resources to do so.
We also ask that if you plan to attend future Meetup events with our group that you kindly use the RSVP function appropriately. This not only means actually using the RSVP to say you are attending, but also changing the RSVP in a timely manner if your plans change and you know you are not attending. If you don't have computer access, then please call us and let us know that you can't attend a meetup so we can have an accurate count of how many people to expect. There is planning and resources that go into these events. On that note, the events will still be at least $5 to attend to help us cover our costs for running the meetup site and the events.
We look forward to hearing back from all of you with your thoughts and suggestions for future events! This is your group and we want to make sure we plan events that interest you!
Your new organizers,
Dr. SAM, Jenya and Shannon
