This outstanding group of volunteers is a grassroots organization dedicated to inspiring underserved children with a love of reading, thereby enriching their lives and opportunities for success in the future. To this end, Reading to Kids gathers hundreds of children and volunteers for reading clubs on the second Saturday of every month. The monthly reading clubs do not require an ongoing commitment - volunteers can choose to participate at a reading club whenever their schedules permit.
The reading groups meet at any one of the now EIGHT schools on our website, so be sure to visit the website for exact directions and to RSVP - THIS IS ESSENTIAL!
If and when you arrive, and you'll likely meet people from all walks of life in and around Los Angeles. After the reading is concluded, we invite all the volunteers to meet at El Cholo restaurant on Western Avenue for a social hour with free appetizers.
It is a great opportunity for individuals to join a casual volunteer effort, as well as corporate and student groups to build cohesion and be a grassroots member of truly hands-on community service project. I can't say enough great things about it!
As we sprint to the end of the year, December should be replete with eager kids and fun activities. You're sure to have fun, and it would be great if you can bring some friends, too. It's a great opportunity to meet lots of cool people and help our own Los Angeles community. We really need everyone's help. Click on the link below to learn more and sign up. Read more
