Brew day saturday. Full mash unusual stout brewing, drink tasting and Gud food

Details

All welcome to relax, chat, eat good food, taste good wine and beer. The idea is to learn how to progress brewing knowledge. Experts welcome to offer advice and beginners welcome to learn the ropes! Plenty of stock to taste and brewers bring a bottle along to share.

The overall aim of this brew day: The day is about socialising in a good beer / food environment in a chilled and positive atmosphere. Time to get more brews on to add to our current stock (35 beer batches and 5 wines) See pic of our first two christmas 2012 beers on maturation phase These will be ready to enjoy along with the 30+ others. The ALT, which will get a few months to mature for the all-Ireland competition in March can be tasted as well.

Whats the mission this time?

Another brew day. This time its bottling the novelty christmas ale and we will be trying to repeat the stout batch that went down so well at last mash day. That beautiful stout was a 1kg finlandia dark ale malt and we added chocolate malt, black barley malt and lightly home-roasted barley straight from the field which filled the house with fresh toasted bread aroma maybe that was the secret, however this stout was cool fermented with a Mauribrew weiss yeast!

This time we will mash our own dark ale malt from pale and crystal and follow the last brew and see what happens.

Full mash takes 6 hours from start to finish. Tasting and good food in between brewing tasks also some bottling to be done.
