I'm into books; I bet you are, too. Most BOOK clubs are of the "You must read this specific book to hang out with us" variety. Our BOOKS club, on the other hand, uses whichever title we've picked as more of a jumping point and we end up discussing a whole slew of different books, authors, and genres. The conversations are lively and cover lots of ground. You don't even necessarily have to read the current selection to join the discussion. All you have to do is enjoy reading and feel like talking about it.
We Love Long Beach is a community organization who's whole goal is to get Long Beach residents to meet each other and be friendly (neighborly, even). Our books club is just a one piece of the puzzle along with neighborhood BBQs, breakfasts, dinner parties, and host of other enjoyable events.
So hey, read a book then meet up with a few of us to talk about it.
"TENTATIVE"
It looks like the release date for the movie is Nov 25, 2009 so we'll plan on the week of Dec. 1 for talking about the book and catching the movie. Since the holidays will be coming up, we'll adjust the date accordingly if we need to for people to attend. I figure the first week should be fine before the DEC X-MAS craziness starts.
OK, so this one will be a little bit different. Read more
