6:30PM-7:30PM: Noel Rappin (https://twitter.com/noelrap) presents Trust-Driven Development: Maintaining Trust in Crisis
You are at the mechanic and you learn that something only the mechanic can see is complicated, broken, and expensive. What do you do? How do you decide?
At some point in your software project, something will go wrong. There will be a miscommunication. You might even make a mistake. What happens then depends the amount of trust you have built up with your client over the project.
We spend a lot of time on the craft of building software. This talk is about the profession of building software. Process is what we do to make sure that everybody on a project has a shared sense of state and of goals. Trust is what happens when we match that shared state and meet those goals. This talk will give you the tools to avoid rough patches in your projects, and to survive the ones that can't be avoided.
