Show and Tell: Crack open your toolbox!

In this special edition of Show and Tell, we invite you to come share your favorite tools with us at The Roxy in Durham! What text editor do you use? What graphics program have you fallen in love with? Have a drink, stand up for 5-10 minutes, and show us what you use to build the Internet!

The Roxy is located at 802 West Main St, Durham, near Brightleaf. Map and directions available at their site: http://theroxydurham.com/Private_Club_Downtown_Durham_NC_American_Drinking_Culture/map-directions/

The Roxy carries awesome booze, but we're heading to Satisfaction in Brightleaf Square afterward for noshies.

I had a good time presenting and seeing other peoples' presentations. Looking forward to the next one. Cramming a lot of info in five minutes is tough!

Some very interesting presentations! I've added resumator to my job search suite, and I downloaded Blender immediately. :) Definitely looking forward to trivia night next time.

It was good to know that Triangle area has good technical talent. Having been to DC, Silicon Valley and Seattle for some time, I always thought those places were the hubs. Seems like Triangle can give a run as well.
Thank to all of you who came and expressed/shared your thoughts

Thanks! I’ve been to Fishmonger’s next store before, and that adjacent parking lot can fill up unexpectedly so this is good to know!

Hey looks like you have a plan, but I checked with the bartender, and it is part of Brightleaf, so they do validate

Ah yes, should’ve noticed that on the map before! Thanks.

actually the lot beside roxy is an even better place to park. No parking attendant

Anyone know if the Roxy &/or Satisfaction will validate parking if you park across the street in the big lot by Parker & Otis? Or is there a better place to park?

Absolutely - anyone is invited to share. Last time we did something like this we had a signup sheet at the event. I'm sure we'll do the same this time. We unfortunately had more people wanting to present than there was time for, but I don't think that will happen this time since there's no hard cutoff time.

Short answer - come! Tell us whats in your toolbox

    I'm guessing anyone can share?

Hey Jim! Sorry - you just emailed me personally and I realized we never answered this. Thought it would be better to respond to this and let everyone read. So! We're all web pros in some capacity, so I'd say it needs to be more web oriented. But I think productivity is just fine if it helps your web dev/design/PMing workflow. And I think overall, no "sales demos", keep it to something that helped you personally.
And yes, the format will be to plugin your machine and present!

No prob, I'll just have my friends report back to me :)

Do these have to be development specific 'tools' or can we demo productivity type stuff?

Sorry, no - I can be convinced otherwise, but I feel that people tend to be a little nervous when they get up to speak if they aren't used to it. I don't want to add the added pressure of live broadcasting! Plus people will probably be showing visuals as well as talking.

    Sorry!

Will you be podcasting? I'll be in FL that week & hate to miss this!
