The Oakland County Acoustic/Electric Jam was formed to bring together mature guitarists, bassists, keyboard players and drummers who want to develop their playing skills, as well as, have fun playing songs with fellow musicians. We are a working band at this time, but still open to occassional players to consider playing in our practice sessions or maybe contribute music/voice other support, maybe person(s) could become part of group or as an alternate for gigs or smaller partial gig(s), like an acoustic setting for coffee shop or such. We may consider doing a larger genre of songs ncluding: jazz, blues, country, soft or hard rock, blue grass, folk. So as to round out our possible songs and see where it leads us, might find our niche in something more than another.
We play a wide variety of music including, folk, pop, rock and blues. The experience level of musicians in our group ranges from intermediate to very experienced. We are open to guitarists who have not played very long, as long as, they know the basics such as open chords and barre chords and can play them well. The same holds true for keyboard players and other instruments- sax, harmonica, flute, violin and such. We will be adding an open meetup on Sunday afternoon for people to drop in and join in more of an acoustic light rock or blue grass, blues, folk type(s) of songs...more easy listening, we could be electrified-pllugged in but not as loud and more mellow. Will post a future date likely soon in November to try this out, perhaps at 1:30 pm or so at this same location, watch for future posting information. My phone number is at the bottom on this page to contact.
Each member of our group joins with the understanding that he/she has to be willing to help his/her fellow members to learn new songs and playing techniques in order to help them become a better musician. Be accomodating and not be to head strong or to much of a perfectionist. Let's have fun.
Now planning on a Sunday acoustic open meetup, will confirm soon, likely 1:30 pm at Huron Valley Council of the Arts Bldg. 205 East Livingston Road, Highland, Mi. (about 1/2 mile off of M-59), little quieter music, can have bass, or light drums, etc. More soft rock acoustic or blue grass, country and other possible music.
We welcome your participation and hope you will consider joining us! If you have any questions about us, what songs we are currently looking over and playing, feel free to call Bob Parsons 248-620-6304
Thank You and Keep on rockin in the free world!
