BREAKING NEWS!!! As of March 20, 2009, we are a formal organization, with a slightly changed name and an expanded purpose. Our new name is Richmond Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain Association. We are incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, for the purpose of improving the lives of people with fibromyalgia and/or chronic pain, and we are this week applying for 501(c)(3) status as a non-profit corporation. I will keep you posted on developments, but this is part of the "cat" I've been keeping in the bag, and I wanted to let it out now that I've gotten approval of our new name and our incorporated status.
These changes will allow us to do more for people with fibro and chronic pain in terms of awareness raising, and also allow us to do more fund-raising to support those efforts. We are planning two events in May in recognition of Fibromyalgia Awareness Day (May 12) and National Fibromyalgia Awareness Month. Stay turned for news on those fronts, and watch for an announcement of our new website to be launched during the month of April.
Welcome to the Richmond Fibromyalgia Support Group. Fibromyalgia is a profound struggle, and little understood even within the medical community. This "hidden disability" is difficult for those not affected to understand. While there are some treatments for symptoms, there is no cure, and no one treatment works well for everyone. This group is about connecting people who have this condition, and creating an atmosphere where people can share information and enjoy the company of others who understand the challenges of living with fibromyalgia. If you want to talk to someone who "gets you" without having to explain, you're in the right place!
Its content is only available to members.
