May, 2006: Group was called the Capital City Riders and organized by a guy named Bob (don’t remember his last name; feel free to remind me if you know). Denise (Rowdi) Carew, who had just moved to Virginia, joined the group so her and her now-ex-boyfriend could meet fellow riders (they had just purchased a Harley). Not long after Rowdi joined the Capital City Riders, Bob asked her to be assistant organizer.
August, 2007: Bob decided he couldn’t keep up with the demands of running the Capital City Riders, left the group without nominating an organizer (part of the administrative choices when an organizer leaves to help save the group), and the group “disbanded.”
March, 2008: Bob Maher, a member of the Capital City Riders, decided to start up another motorcycle group. After inviting 3-4 of his friends to the group, he contacted Rowdi and asked her to be assistant organizer of this group as well. Rowdi contacted members from the Capital City Riders who she was still in contact with and invited them to join. Bob Maher named the group Bonnet’s Crew and gave titles to members based on the pirate theme (i.e., Captain, First Mate, etc.).
July, 2008: Bob Maher moved to St. Louis and left the group without nominating an organizer. Rowdi stepped up for a short time with the money to keep the group active, and then notified the group regarding the situation at hand. That very day, David Valleau contacted Rowdi, said he’d pay the membership fees for two years as his contribution to and participation in the group…..but only if Rowdi agreed to manage the site and organize the group. Rowdi set up David as Organizer and immediately changed the group name from Bonnet’s Crew to something simple, The Richmond Riders.
