Announcing a new Meetup for The VA/MD/DC Rock Climbers Meetup Group!

What: Sportrock Alexandria 5/18@ 6:30 PM...TONIGHT!!!

When: May 18,[masked]:30 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: I'll be there around 6/6:30 and you can meet me over there anytime after that.

Normal day pass: $18
**If you tell the staff you are with the meetup group, they will usually give you the member's guest discounted price of $14**
Climbing shoes and harness rental: $6.50
Feel free to bring your own gear if you have it.

The gym is a short walk from the Van Dorn metro station and there's usually plenty of parking (though you may have to park at the back of the building). Check http://www.sportrock.... for more details.

If you have not been to the gym before, you will need to sign a waiver.
No matter how long you have been climbing, you will still need to pass Sport Rock's belay test to be allowed to tie your own knot and belay other people. As a belayer, you are holding someone else's life in your hands - Sport Rock has the right and responsibility to make sure that everyone in their gym will be safe while participating in this sport.

If you don't know how to belay and/or tie in, you can plan on taking Sport Rock's Basic Skills course and then take their test. The course lasts one hour and costs $25 - you don't need to do it the first few times you climb, but if you decide you'd like to be a regular it's definitely something you'll need to do.
