I contend that if our governments from the founding until now had strictly adhered to the Constitution all along, we would not be in the position we presently find ourselves in. While by no means perfect, our Constitution does provide for amending, and instead of enforcing the amendment process, we've allowed our government to subvert it with acts, rulings, and executive orders, etc.
We may have started out as a Republic, but we have most definitely become a democracy, and we can thank Woodrow Wilson for that. He is the one who coined the phrase "We must make the world safe for Democracy". A study of his early writings reveals his belief system. And thus he coined that phrase with the conscious intent of turning us that way.
We need to be doing 4 things right now, to my way of thinking:
1. Expose and end the corrupt electoral process - it is rigged in favor of the establishment. Until we do this, we will continue to get politicians who will work for the banking system instead of the people.
2. Infiltrate the Republican and Democrat parties. They are two wings of the same bird and until both have been taken over by a change in philosophical thinking, nothing will ever change. This has to happen from the bottom up - not the top, down. We tried that, while we gained some ground, it hasn't worked.
3. Network within your communities. Join your local prepper groups and get ready to circle the wagons - the powers that be are planning on collapsing our system into a new one, and when they do, we will lose our individual and national sovereignty. One way to resist is to not need them when the collapse happens. When they come knocking on the door saying, "We're from the government and we're here to help you", you will have the ability to say "No thanks". And, be open to alternative currencies as an option to the collapsing dollar.
4. Sign up for the OathKeepers. We need to get our military, police, guards, et.al
. on board with us. "I was only following orders" ain't gonna cut it anymore. They need to take their oath to the Constitution to heart. I recently helped organize an event in Tampa (PaulFestival), Stewart Rhodes was a speaker there. Here's his speech:

Despite their supposedly best intentions in matters liberty the founders actually set in motion what would eventually and inevitably become a welfare-warfare social democracy, which is exacty where we are now and have been for most of a century now! The solution for individual liberty lies in the idea of a Private Law Society.

In order to return to the principles upon which our nation was founded it is important for everone to realize that this nation was created as a Constitutional Republic. The form of government that was despised by the founders was a Democracy. They realized that Democracy is the birth place of tyranny. Why is it that the word Democracy does not appear in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. Democracy is a word that should be stricken from the vocabulary of American Patriots.
