Not all laws are mandates. Laws pertaining to violence are not mandates so to mention this as an example of what laws are OK or not shows
a lack of knowledge again on libertarian concepts. This is a problem with many conservatives because they do not understand their
own internal inconsistency of morality or ethics. They also pull the anarchy card just like liberals pull the race card on conservatives.
What you are asking for from the government is a knee jerk reaction to anything you want being dictated by a government organization.
The earlier organic movement privately had as an association self certified and private labeled logo using copyright law. To have this label for marketing you had to pay dues and be checked out. No government need apply. Is this anarchy? You are so programmed
to reach for the government for those functions you think would not hurt but yet no government on the things you do not like.
If you have weaknesses then you want the government to give you a special blue parking space "mandated" on private property. If the private
owner does not comply he will be fined and if he refuses is sent to jail. Why? If you have a heart condition you can the handicap sign and park next to the store. Of course, it doesn't matter your doctor tells you to get more exercise. Lots of noble things like this get put forth but they are dead wrong in a free society. Remember freedom is always lost with the argument of safety and security.
The answer to GMO is a private food certifying and labels organization. It is a choice. Then the consumer is the enforcer.
If you have a food allergy like peanuts you are nuts to eat any commercial package foods from a general supermarket. You should buy
whole foods and avoid all processed foods WITH LABELS. Most labeled foods are just horrible. Foods that are healthy brag about their
lack of bad stuff inside. If you want to know where we need MORE government it is in the prosecution of business fraud.
So if you feel strongly about labeling you should help start a private organization with a copyright logo indicating it is purposely a GMO free food product. If companies that join and use the logo get more customers, then those that want this vote every time they spend
their money. No mandate necessary.
