Building OpenCamp (a project management tool) - a learning series

Building OpenCamp (a project management tool) - a learning series

As part of the Google for Entrepreneurs at CoCo program we will have monthly sessions to help you get started building a real Ruby on Rails web application while learning best practices and fundamental web development concepts. Each session in the series will build on the previous session.

Each session will take place in three parts: an introductory lesson, a group coding workshop and an 'advanced topics' presentation.

We’ll aim to provide documentation and tutorials to go along with our sessions, so newcomers can catch up and dive right in.

For more information on our previous sessions and the structure of our events, visit our GitHub schedule page.

Logistics:

Parking: visit the CoCo MSP site for parking infomation. CoCo has a partnership with the Gateway Ramp (grab validations from CoCo Host to receive $5 parking). http://www.minneapolisparking.com/gateway/

Food/Drink: food, beer, soda and water will be provided

Laptop: since there is group hack-session during these events, you should bring a laptop with Ruby on Rails installed! There is a great resource at http://railsapps.github.com/installing-rails.html that can help you get started on your operating system. If for any reason you run into issues with that tutorial and can't get things running, that's okay too. Just bring your laptop to the event and we can help you get set up and be prepared to partner up with someone to follow along.

Google Group:

We have a forum available for members to openly discuss anything related to their Rails learning experience, please sign up at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/railsmn.

Agh! Sorry, guys--had something come up at work, so I'm afraid I have to duck out for tomorrow. But I've got a lot of questions I'll save up for next time! Have fun Rails-ing in the meantime...

Hey Derrick, I see the RSVP is closed with only one attendee. Is this because the time is still far ahead into the future? I would like to attend but unfortunately can't RSVP. Thanks.
