Ruby on Rails PDX Monthly Meetup => Charity Drive + XMAS Holiday Party

Details
During the holidays it is important to give back to those that are less fortunate than us. For our final meetup of the year we are running a charity drive for http://toysfortots.org (http://toysfortots.org/donate/). We will have 2 presentations, pizza, and the same bar event after to close out 2016. 100% of donations will go to the charity and a full 100% transparent report will be published to all of our members. To be fair, if you sign up early the cost is only $5.00 online, however, it will be $10.00 at the door. If you can not attend, please feel free to donate as it goes to a great cause. The founder of the meetup, Chris Hough, will be working door and verifying names against the paid list for confirmation. Cash only will be accepted at the door and there may not be change available so please bring the exact amount if you are unable to pay online.
Cost: $5 online / $10 at the door
Presentations
"How I Learned that Recruiters are People or The Case Against the Automation of the Recruiter." :: Have you ever wondered what a Recruiter does all day, how much they get paid, why they ask particular questions and make vague job postings, and—most importantly—when to or NOT to work with them? Nick Luallin has been Recruiting IT talent for positions primarily in Portland for the last three years, and would like to pull back the curtains for you. Bring your heavy-hitting questions (or better yet submit them beforehand on Meetup or to Chris Hough), résumés, cover letters, and prepare yourself for a hearty session to discuss searching for work. This is a “no holds barred” event to center around the job market, résumé/interview coaching, and pitfalls that catch candidates during their job search, but all questions are fair game. Did an interview question stump you? Were you left without any questions to ask at the interview? Let’s analyze the situation to see how you could’ve responded better!

"Rails, You, and Security" :: How do you reason about security? Let's build some intuition around security while touring through common security issues in Rails applications. We'll also talk about concepts like threat modeling and ways you can make security more palatable to you or your coworkers.
