Describe your programming experience

I did a bunch of Codeacademy on JavaScript and Ruby, and am learning a little from the CTO of my company, but he's very busy of course. I also took a Linux class at Hunter, learned some shell scripting and Perl.

What do you hope to gain out of joining Ruby Blind?

Mainly, I'd like to learn how to use Ruby. It seems pretty elegant and intuitive, and like something I could figure out... and build interesting things with. I'm also trying to change careers and better myself, and programming is something that's always fascinated me. I haven't spent much time trying to acquire skills in a structured manner -- think I would benefit a lot from a being immersed in a group. Besides, I like meeting new people.

I'm from New York, and have worked here since graduating CC in '09. I do a little work for a start up that uses ruby, and was told that if I got my skills up I might be able to help with the engineering.
