Fellow runners,

Hi, my name is Jon, and after seeing that this group was about to disappear (in a few hours), I decided to step up as organizer. Since I organize another meetup group already, I can sponsor this group for free, so nobody has to pay anything to keep it going (it costs $72 every 6 months). However, I don't have a lot of extra free time, so I am hoping that some of the more dedicated Assistant Organizers (AOs) will step back up and help organize group runs (or running related activities like meeting up after races, socials or whatever). If you are willing to step up and help keep the group going, please don't hesitate to e-mail me at: [address removed] Or, click the "contact me" link at the welcome page.

Running has always been one of my "passions" in life, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who runs year round, rain or shine, ice or no ice. Ok, in Michigan where I'm from, they used to call those "Crazy Runs", LOL (trail runs in the woods and on roads jumping over streams and running through snow banks), but it was still a lot of fun. Besides, we have a lot of good weather days in Chicago too, even if that's a relative term during the colder months. Since I live in Evanston, I might organize some 4-8 mile group runs in Evanston or the north side of Chicago. But if anyone else wants to organize some group runs (or other activities) in other parts of the city, I wholeheartedly support that.

So, I hope you will join me in this effort to keep bringing runners together for group runs, races and whatever else you feel inclined to organize. If the original organizer(s) want to take over in the spring, I have no objections to that either. I just want to help keep it going. I look forward to meeting you in the not too distant future!

Happy trails and sidewalks,
