VOTE "NO" TODAY ON THE $46 MILLION RVC "SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT" BOND PROPOSAL

ATTENTION RESIDENTS RESIDING IN THE ROCKVILLE CENTRE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

The RVC School District is proposing a $46 MILLION DOLLAR “School Improvement” Bond.

The RVC School District had originally proposed a $56 MILLION DOLLAR bond, but the amount was scaled down to $48 MILLION, then reduced again to the current $46 MILLION DOLLAR figure. According to the RVC School Board, the passage of this bond will increase property taxes of each RVC household by about $170.00 per year for the next 30 YEARS.
It’s "ONLY" $170.00 more, right? Let’s not forget to add the proposed $170.00 increase to our annual school tax increase of 2 percent (or to the inflation rate, whichever is higher), PLUS any other debt service payments, PLUS all unfunded employee pension contributions.
The effective rate of our school tax increase comes out to a whopping 3.5 percent, not including this new bond proposal. HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH??

Check out just a few of the more frivolous items in this proposal, like:
$1.5 MILLION DOLLARS for an indoor synthetic track
$360,000 for lockset doorknobs

$2.3 MILLION for air conditioning
$750,000 to purchase and refurbish a house next door to school property

SO, HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH? The answer is, as much as they can squeeze out of us before we finally pack up our stuff and be forced to move away.

Due to the current economic climate, ever-increasing property taxes, and the total disregard for the taxpayers from the Board of Education & school administrators, WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE VOTE NO TODAY !
