Upper Stagecoach to Training Hill to Kick Ass hill - Advanced.

Up for a midweek hike workout that's better than the gym? I've chosen the two most challenging hikes while we still have the long summer days to do them.

The normal leader of the group, Cheryl, is out this week, so I will fill in. (Thanks for organizing all those great hikes, Cheryl!)

We'll start out on on the Upper Stagecoach Trailhead, located on Russell Road. We'll head down the hill to the path that comes out on the road, near the confluence. We will cross the bridge and head up path on the right through the green gate to training hill, then back down. After coming back down, we will cross the bridge again and head up Kick Ass Hill.

PLEASE NOTE: This hike is not for beginners! Everyone should be able to hike at a moderately fast pace, and bring plenty of snacks and water for their own needs. Kick Ass Hill represents a challenge to most particularly if they haven't done it before. The group generally waits for everyone at the top of Kick Ass then continue by crossing Foresthill Bridge and coming back to Upper Stagecoach.

Bring plenty of water, snacks, headlamp, poles if you have them and gloves to prevent slippage and most important, a happy attitude. The hike can end after dark, so the headlamps are helpful.

TRAILHEAD DIRECTIONS: Take I-80 towards Reno and exit at Lincoln Way in Auburn. Turn right at the stop sign, then left at the next street, which is Russell Road. Go down Russell Road, approximately 1 mile and you will see parking spaces on the left hand side of the road. Parking here is free.

Total mileage should be 6 to 7 miles and take about 3 hours.

Dang near felt like a family reunion if ya know what I mean! It was good to see almost everyone together again. Always a little more special when we're all together......

Thanks Michael for leading us on such a great workout. Something to do with either the unusual humidity or your fast pace, but I was soaked as I slumped into my car. Always a great feeling :-)
