Details

Agenda:

This month Jeremy Evans (https://www.meetup.com/sacruby/members/11621935/) will be presenting "Ruby Techniques By Example," a presentation based on his presentation at the Mountain West Ruby Conference (https://mtnwestrubyconf.org/2010/):

Many presentations focus on showing off new applications and libraries. They show you what has been accomplished, but rarely do they show you how. This presentation will take examples from production code (mainly from Sequel), showing techniques that you can use in your own code. Some of the techniques demonstrated will relate to:

Creating more easily extensible code
Handling class-level data within inheritance hierarchies
Improving dynamically defined method performance safely
Structuring DSL implementations
Dynamically defining singleton methods
Presenting multiple backends as one

Jeremy Evans is the lead developer of the Sequel database library (https://sequel.rubyforge.org/).

About the Meetup

This is a controlled access building. Please call Chris's cell at 1-916-801-2268

As always, a number of folks will be around the hour before the formal meeting (6:30pm) to conduct the "Ruby Clinic". Bring your questions, problems, or other issues in and we'll try to help you out. Whether you are a new learner of Ruby, someone trying to set up a new machine, or an experienced developer with a tough problem at work, the Ruby Clinic is the place to turn to.

Hope to see everyone at the meeting!
