What we’re about

Saheli is a women's group that primarily connects women of Indian and South Asian origin. It's main goal is to engage and support women; and provide a safe place for them to socialize, build and grow deep, meaningful friendships. We also welcome women of other ethnic backgrounds who are interested in South Asian culture. We strive to be a strong, supportive and inclusive community.

Science has proven that Women who have close female friends are healthier and happier. At Saheli women can come together , build connections through 3 distinct categories of activities.
1.Fun
2.Support
3.Empowerment

1. Fun Activities:
We organize many activities such as potlucks, picnics, camping trips, coffee/lunch/dinner meets, movie nights, Girls night outs, sleepovers, karaokes, musical gatherings, ticketed parties, road trips. We celebrate global festivals together. The larger scale ticketed events in this category helps us raise funds for the Support and empowerment activities listed below.

2. Support Activities:
*Saheli has started a "Friends in Need" Support group that regularly meets in an intimate , confidential setting (5-10 ladies per session) where women can freely discuss their challenges and share anything weighing heavy on their hearts. They can seek support, help and connections to help them deal with their issues.
*We also volunteer together to support the needy via soup kitchens, donation drives, food and hygiene supply distributions to homeless and many such group activities.

3. Empowerment Activities
*Saheli organizes various workshops such as personality development, meditations, retreats, emotional fitness to help women build inner strength and peace
*Saheli offers emotional fitness and clarity coaching to women.
*Book Clubs -  Women interested in reading and sharing knowledge can join our book club sessions.
We strive to be a strong, supportive and inclusive community.

About The members:
Some of us love to dress up, some of us are happy with just a pair of jeans and a pony tail. Some of us love to cook, some of us only like to eat! :) some of us are from north, some of us from south. Some of us like to dance, some of us would rather be invisible when dancing starts! So you got it! You will always fit in! We accept and love everyone the way they are!
The only rule we follow is : No drama please! We laugh (a lot!!) and most importantly we stick together for the ones in need.
Do not worry if if it is your first time joining us at a meetup and you don't know anyone here. Most members join solo on their first meetup and soon make connections within the group. We will make sure that you feel welcome and are comfortable. So join us for any of the meetups without any hesitation. We are a very inclusive group.

Picture Policy: The pictures and videos taken during meetup events will be shared on Saheli's social media pages such as meetup, Instagram and facebook. Saheli takes no responsibility for individual pictures that the meetup attendees take and share. If you have any issues, you may not be part of any pictures at the meetup.

Running a meetup has a significant recurring monetary cost to the organizers, apart from efforts and time investment. However we are able to keep it a free experience for members to be a part of this community. How? Thanks to our sponsors, who chip in to make this happen for you. Let's be grateful to them for bringing wonderful connections, opportunities to have fun and support in our lives.
