Hi All,

If you're looking for something to do this July 4th weekend, come out to the Liberty Hill location for The Human Path (http://www.thehumanpath.com) Austin classes and enjoy a day of free classes, demos, competitions, prizes, drawings swimming and food.

From about 11 AM - 5 PM we will be holding a "skills fair" on the property that we use for Austin-area classes which is just south of Liberty Hill. See the directions here: https://www.meetup.com/san-antonio-wilderness-living-and-survival/boards/thread/11969451

This is a chance to meet and talk with the instructors at The Human Path and learn a few skills while hanging out at a beautiful location with a great river to swim in. Plus there's food, drink and a chance to win some prizes.

Short classes will be given and we'll have some friendly competitions as well as a drawing with prizes (survival knives, axes, machetes, t-shirts, sweatshirts, bugout backpacks and bags).

Things to bring:

Camp chair Swim suit Life Jacket for children if they are swimming in the deeper sections of the river. The water depth ranges from ankle deep to 8' deep depending on where you want to swim. There is an area by the spillway that doesn't get any deeper than about 3 feet. Either way it is a great place to swim, but in order to make life a little less stressful for the property owner, a life jacket is requested for kids (and "non-swimming" adults) if they're going to be swimming in the deep sections. Knife (fixed blade, 4" - 6" blade is best) if you want to take part in a class or competition that would require a working knife An item or two you'd like to trade if you want to take part in the trade blanket Water/water container. We'll have water there of course, but something to fill and stay hydrated with. Closed-toed shoes might be a good idea if you're going to be walking around the property a lot Notebook and something to write with if you're coming to a class Camera if you like to remember information that way Sunscreen, hat, etc. Bugout bag if you want to bring it to critique and compare during the bugout bag class and discussion NOTE - NO FIREWORKS Please! There is currently a strict fire ban. No drugs, alcohol or firearms, as well.

Here's a list of approximate times for free classes, activities, demos and competitions going on throughout the day:

  • Possibly there will be some stick-fighting demos with Rudy Salazar and one or more of his senior students throughout the day
