FREE Mission Bay SOCIAL POTLUCK PICNIC BONFIRE!

OPEN up to about 70 rsvps!  Meetup sometimes doesn't show "# spots left" anymore.

Another Very Popular MBay DeAnza Cove Potluck BONFIRE SOCIAL! Celebrate TGIF sharing camaraderie with some SDNAA, some SD 40+ "Friends", Active SD 40+ Boomers, some hikers & also members of four other social Meetup groups tonight. A big mixed friendly group!

Grab your beachchairs, nice potluck dish and utensil for it, your BYOB sodas in a cooler, a warm jacket, flashlights/lanterns and some firewood appreciated if you can!

Main courses or big entrees are best for this potluck group, bring something that YOU would like to eat, so then you know it will be there.

Please specify what you are bringing in your rsvp, you can update it later in comments here. If you need ideas, plan something YOU like or stop by Costco and pickup a party tray or their spiral turkey sandwiches or chicken tenders, etc.

Maybe someone can bring a large pot of very hot water for instant coffee, chocolate or hot cider packets and hot beverage cups. If so please post that in your comments here, thanks. BYOB sodas!

Dress appropriate for the weather. Have warm jacket/warm clothes in your car just in case!

No alcohol (or glass) is officially allowed on City beaches, they might sometime come around and check.

Get on down to De Anza Cove tonight for the TGIF Bonfire Social Potluck with SDNAA and some convivial San Diego 40+ "Friends Like Me", some Active 40+ Boomers and a bunch of potential new members possibly dancing around the fire from four other convivial Meetup groups.

Plan your pre-cooked dish unless you also bring a small BBQ for it, or someone offers to bring a BBQ which would then be posted here in comments if so. Take a look at comments to see if anyone is bringing a BBQ.

Potluck begins about 4:00pm but come as early as you want for best parking, help setup or hold the fire ring and maybe walk a few miles along beautiful Mission Bay while there.

Anyone have a boombox or music ipod with amp? Bring it in your car and we may enjoy your tunes. Anyone play piano?  We may have a surprise for you down there if you have music sheets or can play from memory.

I will go very early and try to get the furthest West double picnic tables and closest fire ring. ( The Sun sets in the West, for non-scouts ) Walk the sidewalk to the NorthWest end and then look for us at the picnic tables and fire ring nearby.

Notice: the powerful lawn sprinklers may possibly come on after 9pm and soak the grass and picnic tables area, so let's put all leftover food and dishes/utensils/bags away in cars well before then and move everyone's chairs over to the sand close around the fire-ring after dark before 9pm!

The sprinklers did NOT come on in Oct, Nov or Dec, no guarantees for this month with the drought and all.

Hanging around the picnic tables/grassy area after 9pm could possibly get you a bit soaked! Only fun if it has been a very hot day!

Coming North on H-5 take Clairemont Dr offramp and turn West, crossing 5 and then turn right onto E Mission Bay Dr. Go to De Anza Rd.

Coming South on H-5 you may take Balboa/MBayDr offramp( or if very heavy traffic at Balboa ramp just continue South on 5 to Clairemont Dr ), proceed straight on Mission Bay Dr thru six stoplights before taking sharp right turn from right lane just before entering 5 South again, West into N Mission Bay Dr, turn right at stopsign and go North to De Anza Rd.

IF you miss that sharp right turn and end up on H-5 South, you can still take the next offramp Clairemont Dr and get on E Mission Bay Dr going North along there to De Anza Rd.

^^ Our Silver Star mylar balloon to look for on umbrella top, or hanging on chairback after dark by our West-most fire ring.

Was a good turnout from 5 groups with most socializers having a good time chatting making new friends, some stayed very late around the bonfire.
Sprinklers came on briefly around 10pm and dampened a few peoples enthusiasm for a bit, until they dried off.

I signed up, promised to bring something scrumptious from Costco, and I didn't make it. Dang it! I sold my house, escrow was to have closed yesterday but instead closed today. That and another fortuitous imposition make me miss it.

This BIG POTLUCK PICNIC starts after 3pm today! Please post what potluck food you are bringing in comments here if not in your rsvp, many haven't yet specified it!

We need main courses and big entrees for this big group. If you need ideas on what to bring, plan to stop by Costco on your way and pick up their spiral turkey sandwiches or party platters, some big entree like chicken tenders or fresh large pizzas would work.

Remember your warm clothes and jackets! Chairs!

Also some firewood if you can, thanks for helping.
