The State Wide Codes and Standards Team for the Investor Owned Utilities (SDG&E, SCE, PG&E) have four up coming Title[masked] Residential code trainings for plans examiners and building inspectors. One is in Chula Vista, the others are in Mammoth Lakes and Alhambra. To register for the Chula Vista class on May 9th go to http://mbaenergy.com/class/ChulaVista130509PEBIr. For flyers or other information contact Wendy Donaldson at [address removed] for more information.
2013 Code is not going to be approved until the energy commission approves the back end (engine) of the energy modeling software for the new standards. Once that is approved there will still be a lag time for software developers to get approved and come to market with the front end interface for end users. From my daily interactions in the field and in class rooms I see that most people still don't have a full grasp of the 2008 code, and I would expect the 2013 code is not going into effect until the software issues are resolved, which could be another year or so, CHEERS is a good example of software compliance with CEC requirements, they have not be active since 2010. So 2008 code may be around a while and if you don't fully grasp this code cycle then please attend. These trainings are no cost!!!! And lunch is catered, woooooo hooooooooooo, free food! And oh yeah, I'll be teaching.
