A Self-guided Tour of "Green" Architecture and Construction
sponsored by Kyocera Solar
September 29-30 10am-4pm
On Saturday and Sunday, September 29 and 30, San Diego EarthWorks will host the sixth GreenBuilt
Tour, a self-guided tour of homes and businesses that feature "green"
architecture and construction that saves resources, energy, water, your
health, money... and our environment. Participants can choose from more
than 15 tour sites to visit.
With the rising costs of energy,
the depletion of our natural resources, and the effects of our
life-style decisions on global climate change, the choices people make
when they build or remodel can make a real difference.
making environmentally responsible building choices is not easy.
Finding green alternatives requires that owners do lots of research.
And, most builders just want to build the same way they have been doing
for the past 50 years - they aren't going to offer or build with
"green" alternatives unless the owners require it.
Which is where
the Tour comes in. Each Tour site features a variety of sustainable,
environmentally-friendly building features. Tour participants can find
out from the tour site owners and builders what they did, how they did
it, and why. The Tour helps bootstrap this next round of sustainable

of environmental issues through the annual EarthFair in Balboa Park, their annual E.A.R.T.H. Awards, and the Rose Creek Restoration Project.
Like all EarthWorks events, the GreenBuilt
is produced and staffed by volunteers. We still need lots of
