Aspergers Meetup News - Upcoming Events, and Documentary Idea

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Just a reminder, this Saturday at 7:00 pm is movie/pizza night at Connor's house (in Oceanside). About 9 people has RSVP'ed yes so far; I encourage you to RSVP ASAP (Movie Night) if you plan to attend; this will help Connor and his family prepare. If you plan to order pizza, please bring about $5.00.

Don't forget Comic-Con will be Sunday July 27. You must order your tickets online ( ) if you plan to attend; they are about 50% sold out at this point.

Many of you know I produced a movie that is currently making rounds of the film festivals, and it will be released next February. One of the Fallbrook Film Festival organizers had read the newspaper article about our meetup group that appeared in the North County Times (in case you missed it, here is the online version:, and she suggested I do a documentary about young adults with Aspergers Syndrome. I think she's right.

So, I'd like to know if any of you are interested in participating (as in being interviewed and filmed) for this documentary. The purpose of the documentary is to enlighten people about what it's like to have Asperger's Syndrome - the advantages, disadvantages, and the characteristics that make you uniquely you. I have spoken to so many parents who have told me, "When my child was diagnosed with Asperger's, I didn't even know what it was."

If you are interested and want to know more, just respond to this email. You are not committing yourself by responding. I'd like to interview not only you, but preferably family members. I would show you the interview questions ahead of time, and you would have final say on whether any of your interview stays in or gets cut. If you're not interested, no problem, I know a lot of people are shy. You can volunteer to help out "behind the scenes" if you'd like. (Let me know if you are good with a camera!)
