Writer's workshop! Hosted by The Beaverton (www.thebeaverton.com).

Details
We'll be holding a writer's workshop / mini-course to pitch, spitball, and punch-up comedic material. This is specifically a satire news affair. By the end of the 2.5 hour session, you will have a good general understanding of what works with fake news satire, and the workings of a fake news article produced by you.
We will:
> pitch funny concepts (headlines)
> review and discuss pitched ideas and discuss how best to filter ideas
> discuss the best ways to tap into group brainstorm sessions
> learn to read work for comedic value and how to analyse the workings of parody and satire specifically to the fake news format
> peer review material / provide punch-up notes
The skills and methods we'll touch on to produce peer reviewed comedy is beneficial to anyone in creative fields, especially team-based collaborative fields, such as marketing.
Hosting will be two senior writers from Canada's top satire news outfit, The Beaverton (www.thebeaverton.com), to run the meeting and provide feedback on your work, both at the meeting and one follow up session by email.
Some writing and some comedy writing experience is preferred.
