Since the Bay Area Climbing group is focused mainly on SF and East Bay climbing, thought I'd put this out there as an alternative way for people from the South bay/SJ/Campbell/Sunnyvale/MTN View Areas to hook up and climb together. There are amazing places to go climbing in the south bay and north bay, indoor and outdoor. Planet granite has a beautiful facility in SF and Sunnyvale. Supposedly there are some new places popping up as well. Castle Rock and the Pinnacles are not far from here. They sustain great hiking trails in these places as well. There are some beautiful beach climbing places up North if you want to go on the weekends. A bit cold but could be interesting. If you know of any other great places to climb, please post to the forum. And, as always, Post your ideas on the ideas page. A couple trips will be set up for learning how to climb outdoors better with trained instructors for those who are new or wanting to get better at climbing outdoors. Planet Granite has classes as well. I am definitely still learning myself, so newbies are very welcome along with seasoned climbers. Sure there are going to be people of all skill levels and enthusiasm that join this group. ATTENTION -> IF YOU'VE NEVER CLIMBED BEFORE Planet Granite requires all to be belay certified prior to climbing in the gym. They have a class to teach basic climbing techniques, how to belay, tie in, etc. Please take that class before joining up with any of the meetings. They run the classes daily many times and runs about 120.00 and includes gear. We won't be teaching climbing in the group. It's for people who know how or are learning how to climb better. I repeat, you must know how to belay SAFELY and securely to be active in the group. Thank you! Looking forward to another awesome group experience!
