I've put my solution here:https://github.com/SheepCoder/wordLadder
I'd be interested to know how others tried to solve this.

How did it go last night?
Sorry for the late notice, but I have just got a puncture on my bike about half way home so won't be able to make it. Look forward to seeing solutions to the problem James posted. I''ll have a go too if I get a chance.

Could I suggest that you meet up for some programming instead? I recently worked on solving one of the problems in the independent newspaper. The problem is called Word Ladder. You are given two four letter words and have to convert one to the other using the four rungs of the letter and by only changing a single letter on each rung.
e.g.L A C E_ _ _ __ _ _ __ _ _ __ _ _ _R I N G
Would be solved asLace -> Lice -> Line -> Pine -> Ping -> Ring
Another problem would be:Dual -> .... -> .... -> .... -> .... -> Bike
You could have a pop at solving this on Wednesday and I can post my solution on git hub. I can also post some more problems for you to solve.
Sorry once again that I can't make it on Wednesday as I have a long term commitment. It would be a shame to waste our MadLab space as it is so hard to come by.
Obviously the ideal solution uses infinite lists :)
Any update on the plan for Wednesday?
What's the plan? I've got football 6-7 Wednesdays so definitely won't be able to get there for 7. However I may be able to get there for half past if that's any use?

All skill levels of Scala developers are welcome, we are a bunch of Scala Develops, Scala enthusiasts and Scala Noobs.
There are a range of talks for the beginer to the pro, there is something for everyone.
We are meet on the last Monday of the Month at Mad Lab, come along and chat!
Meetup has allowed me to meet people I wouldn't have met naturally - they're totally different than me.
