Scala Coding Dojo

Details
A coding dojo is a meeting where a bunch of coders get together and work on a code kata, a programming challenge to improve their skills. They code, learn and have fun away from interruptions, distractions, deadlines and production bugs. A coding dojo provides a safe environment to discuss topics like design, functional programming, testing, refactoring, choice of code editors, tools, etc.
This dojo is especially well suited for Scala beginners and will consist of a short introduction to Scala followed by the actual dojo. Although you don't need any existing Scala knowledge you should know how to write programs in other languages.
Requirements:
• Your laptop
• A working Scala development environment with ability to create a Scala project instantly, with unit-test support. Please set this up before the event so we can start right away. If you don't already have a working environment the following guide will help you to install the Scala IDE with minimal effort: https://github.com/acanda/scala-intro-dojo/wiki/Preparation
• No existing knowledge of Scala is necessary. You should however be able to write programs in other languages (e.g. Java, C#, C++ etc.)
• Willingness to have fun ;-)
This Scala Coding Dojo will be hosted by Zühlke Engineering at their office in the Rivergate Office Center (next to U6 Handelskai).
The Zühlke Engineering office is in the right-hand part of the Rivergate. After entering the building go to the reception and ask for Zühlke Engineering. You will get a badge which you need to use the elevator. The event will be held on the first floor.
